The Real Reason
Irma was one of the first people we met in the cycling scene, and believe it or not, it wasn't through bike fitting. It was her cycling massage. We'd never known something like that even existed, and it changed our lives from that day on.
Irma is a special human, one we now call part of our family. She's so much more than a bike fitter or a masseuse, she's our person. Someone who can change how you ride, for the better, after just one visit. We love her.
What we appreciate most is being treated as an individual, not a standard measurement off a chart. That's exactly how we think about riding, and it's why we send people to Irmfit rather than guessing at saddle height ourselves.
Their Story
Irmfit started in Durbanville in 2012 as an idea to offer sports massages out of a local bike shop. A few months in, the shop owner introduced founder Irma Van Der Colff to the concept of bike fitting, which she pursued alongside a diploma in reflexology, eventually training with Specialized and shadowing sports scientist Dr Jeroen Swart to build her fitting practice.
That combination, therapy background plus technical fitting knowledge, has shaped how Irmfit approaches every session: a thorough pre-fit assessment covering injury history and riding goals, followed by a fit built around each rider's natural movement rather than generic measurements. The practice now operates from Cape Town, offering both full bike fits and sports massage and recovery work for cyclists.
