Then we met Dayle... wow. A more passionate person we have never met. A phenomenal human in every way. We started promoting their brand not because of him, but because of what the brand represents. It's truly South African, with local backing by one of the nicest and most professional people in the industry.
Lyne is a proudly local, Cape Town-designed and built brand, and choosing to support South African component makers over defaulting to whatever's easiest to import matters to us, especially when the quality genuinely holds up.
Their Story
Mountain Bikers Building For Mountain Bikers
Lyne Components was founded by Cape Town rider Dayle Holmes, alongside his dad, building mountain bike parts, dropper posts, handlebars, stems and wheelsets, designed specifically around affordability and durability rather than chasing the premium end of the market. The brand is based in Woodstock, in the same city where its founder and team ride and test the products themselves.
Dayle's path there ran through the bike industry itself. After completing a BTech in Industrial Design in 2010, he spent six years as a frame designer at Silverback Bikes, picking up graphic design, marketing and creative team leadership along the way, before leaving in 2016 to build something of his own with Lyne.
What consistently comes through in rider feedback is the after-sales service: components repaired rather than simply replaced, quick turnarounds even on out-of-warranty issues, and a small team that knows the products because they built and use them. For a brand built on real rides and honest feedback from the people who ride it, that reputation is very much the point.

Outer Cycles
Dayle has since launched his own cycling brand, Outer Cycles, built by the same Lyne team behind the scenes since 2020. Being an ex-MTB designer at Silverback put him in exactly the right position to design bikes suited to the South African landscape rather than adapting something built for somewhere else.
Outer Cycles now runs an extensive lineup spanning e-bikes, gravel and enduro, at some of the best prices locally available, the same combination of local design and fair pricing that drew us to Lyne in the first place.
